Some people say that the best sign to find out you're actually getting older (maybe without you feeling it at first) is that the people in your age, your peers, are starting to get married.
Well today's breaking news is that a former classmate of mine (and even the youngest of us all) is getting married in 2 months!!
Do I feel old now?! I'm not sure ... |

| 3:2 für Deutschland ... und danach? |

Draußen tobt der Bär! Es ist halb eins und noch immer hört man hupende Autos. Ich habe das heutige Fußballspiel eigentlich nur mit einem Ohr nebenbei verfolgt. Der Sieg der deutschen Mannschaft war wohl eher Glücksache, laut Kommentatoren war es ein eher schwaches Spiel. Das interessiert jetzt jedoch keinen mehr, jetzt darf gefeiert werden!
Ich habe vorher gesagt, dass es egal ist welche Mannschaft gewinnt, es gibt genug Fans und Landsmänner beider Teams hier in der Stadt, die auf die Straßen gehen können. In diesem Fall waren es vielleicht sogar noch mehr. Aber es waren auch Türken auf der Straße, die zwar nicht glücklich waren über die Niederlage, aber dann den vorbeifahrenden Deutschen doch scheinbar anerkennend applaudierten. Oder ganz opportunistisch die Seite gewechselt hatten. Oder gleich so eine Flagge hatten:
Eine kleine Runde bin ich gelaufen und am Eingang des City-Tunnels stehen geblieben, wo ich einen Freund traf, der auf seine Straßenbahn wartete, die natürlich nicht kommen konnte: die Straßen waren ja menschengefüllt. So blieben wir eine Weile gemeinsam stehen und beobachteten das Geschehen. Am Eingang des Tunnels stand ein Polizeiwagen und viele Leute wollten unbedingt ein Foto von sich vor dem Auto oder mit dem Polizisten haben. Hä? Manche schon von weitem: "Ey Alta, lass ma' Foto mit Polizei mach'n!" Zu den sonstigen Beobachtungen gehörten noch mehr Polizisten, Feuerwehr und Rettungswagen, jede Menge Fans und deren Gesänge oder sonstige Geräuscherzeuger (einer trug eine Alarmanlage bei sich) und als Highlight den türkischen Fan der komplett in seinen Landesfarben und mit der entsprechenden Flagge ausgestattet war und lautstark "Supa Deutschland!" brüllte, worauf andere - offensichtlich auch türkische Fans - dann meinten "Genau, scheiß Türkiye!".
Also kein Krieg sondern alles nur Spaß! Fußball ist eh Nebensache, hauptsache ist doch, man hat einen Grund um auf die Straße zu gehen und zu feiern (oder Schaulustiger zu spielen, so wie ich).
Draußen hört man noch immer was. Ich werde trotzdem jetzt zu schlafen versuchen.

Last weekend, I was in Bremen for IdentityCamp, meeting a lot of people involved in digital identity and OpenID and it was really great. Anyway, I wanted to say something completely different. The first night I stayed at a hostel and as it wasn't my intention to pay an expensive price, I shared a room with five other people. I couldn't sleep well that night and very early in the morning, some guy's cell phone alarm rang (well you can't really call it ringing anymore with MP3 realtones and stuff). Obviously this was the reminder for him to wake up, put he just turned it off with the snooze function. Not once, not twice but I think four times. He only got up when the music started for the fifth time! Actually I liked the song, the beginning of which I had to listen to four times, but I was too sleepy (and moreover too shy) to ask what it was. So since then I had this tune in my ear without knowing the artist or the title. But there's this cool invention called Google where I searched for one line I remembered ("it must have been hard") and ... the second result was it.

Gerade gesehen: Weltweite Rüstungsausgaben steigen weiter
Sehr bedenklich:
[...] Seit 1998 betrug der Zuwachs 45 Prozent. Die höchsten Steigerungsraten in dieser Zeit verzeichneten die Staaten Osteuropas einschließlich der früheren Sowjetunion mit einem Plus von 162 Prozent. Russland legte 2007 beim Militärhaushalt um 13 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahr zu.[...]
Fast die Hälfte aller Rüstungsausgaben auf der Welt entfiel mit 45 Prozent auf die USA. Seit 2001 [...]sind sie in den Vereinigten Staaten um 59 Prozent gestiegen.
Dabei gibt es nicht unbedingt mehr Kriege. Warum also? Sollten wir uns nicht so langsam mal an Abrüstung machen?! |

| Schlossgrabenfest 2008 |

This weekend there was the Schlossgrabenfest in Darmstadt. The Schlossgrabenfest is one of the largest city open air music festivals in Germany. It started on Thursday and then there were four evenings (plus one morning) full of music in the city. I went there with different people on different days, because Schlossgrabenfest is the time where you meet with people you don't see that often throughout the rest of the year. But now to the music: I saw a lot of good bands. At the local talent stage, I liked most Stillway, a band that a friend of mine recommended. Revolverheld was good, too, but we excepted more. A really fun band was Erdmöbel, a word that alledegly meant "coffin" in East Germany (when Germany was seperated, so a long time ago). They have recorded an album called "No. 1 hits" where they feature, well, number one hits. However, they translate them from English to German and they do sometimes very close translations which make the lyrics sound fun - as nobody would really translate a word like pussycat to "Muschikatz". Cool story: When Erdmöbel sang "Einer wie wir" ("One of us"), they told the audience that this song was written by Eric Bazillian, the singer and song writer of the 80's band The Hooters and asked: "Eric, are you here?" Actually, The Hooters played the next day and at the end, Eric sang "One of us" and in the middle of the song switch to German - so he sang the "Erdmöbel version" in German with American accent.
Enough for today and for partying, now the days should be centered around work again. However first I needed this day (and the next night) to recover, I did not sleep that much on the weekend. |

Two rock bands where people I know play have a concert tonight, unfortunately I can't be there because I'm not in town. However, I'd like to promote them here (links to their MySpace-pages):

In other music news, another guy I know is a DJ (electronic music) and together with a friend they have their first "real" release as Drehregler with the track Heartbreaker. With "real" release I mean that the track is in all major online download stores (e.g. Napster) and available on Vinyl through DJ online stores. I am so proud of him!

Ich möchte auf diesem Blog, angeregt durch einige Gespräche und Kontakte, jetzt mal ins Philosophieren einsteigen und nehme mir für den Start gleich mal folgendes vor: Das Allmächtigkeitsparadoxon. In Wikipedia ist es wie folgt erklärt:
Das Allmächtigkeitsparadoxon ist ein philosophisches Paradoxon, welches bei der Anwendung von Logik auf ein allmächtiges Wesen auftritt. Das Paradoxon beruht auf der Frage, ob ein allmächtiges Wesen in der Lage ist etwas zu tun, was seine eigene Allmacht einschränkt, wodurch es seine Allmacht verlieren würde.
Eine einfache praktische Formulierung ist die folgende Frage:
Kann ein allmächtiges Wesen einen so schweren Stein schaffen, dass es ihn selbst nicht heben kann?
Und jetzt mein Senf: Eine mögliche Antwort darauf ist, dass dieses Paradoxon ja auf Basis unserer Logik aufgestellt worden ist und wenn das Wesen allmächtig ist kann es ja auch diese Logik außer Kraft setzen. Es entzieht sich also unserer Betrachtungsmöglichkeit. So sehr diese Antwort für mich Sinn gibt, so unbefriedigend ist sie zugleich. Denn es hieße, dass jegliche Diskussion über den Glauben prinzipiell unmöglich bzw. ziellos ist. Du glaubst oder du glaubst nicht. Meinungen dazu? |

| BBC joins OpenID Foundation |

The British Broadcast Corporation joins the OpenID foundation, which should not be a short-time engagement (which also means we cannot expect OpenID logins to function on their website tomorrow) but long-term. Interesting, and nice to see how the idea of OpenID is spreading throughout the world. |

| 4LYN Concert |

 Yesterday evening I was at a concert by 4LYN at the Colos-Saal in Aschaffenburg. I did not know that band very well in advance, I was asked to join some friends to the concert, listened to some of their songs and decided to give them a chance. 4LYN already has some albums released and they played some of the old stuff and also brand new songs from the recent album "Hello". BTW, my favorite song from that album is "Nostalgia".
Some people just describe 4LYN as alternative rock, some say their music is nu metal. Anyway, I'm not a friend of strict genre seperations. That is a great transition to the support band, Insolence. They were described as a mixture of "metal, reggae and hip hop". On stage, they have a typical rock band instrumentation with two singers plus a DJ. The way they mixed the elements of these genres was okay but, at least in my opinion, could have been much better, because they put too much emphasis on just making a lot of noise.
Apropos noise, my ear still hurts a bit :-( |

Auf dem Videoportal clipfish findet zur Zeit ein Talentwettbewerb für Werbespots statt. An diesem Video (einem Spot für die Kaffeemaschine Dulce Gusto) ist eine Freundin von mir beteiligt und obwohl das Video für dieses Produkt derzeit bereits auf Platz 1 ist - ihr dürft trotzdem voten! |

| Kein Aprilscherz! |

Hätte ich das am Monatsersten entdeckt, hätte ich es für einen Aprilscherz gehalten. Aber scheinbar gibt es diese Produkte wirklich: Tastaturlayouts für verschiedene Bundesländer! Eine normale Tastatur hat die Tasten "Pos1" und "Ende", auf der hessischen heißen die "vonne" und "hinne", eine normale Tastatur hat "Esc", die fränkische hat "blos wech". Und das ist erst der Anfang!
Aber seht selbst:
Irgendwelche heimatverbundene Nerds hier, denen man sowas schenken darf?! |
